KidGlov, a boutique marketing and advertising agency based out of Lincoln and Omaha, Neb., invited Children’s Hospital’s Children’s Center for the Child & Community to a recent episode of their podcast, Agency for Change. The podcast welcomed Rick Helweg, the program’s community outreach coordinator, and Whitney Koehn, health communications graduate assistance, to explore the impact of this organization for children in the community.

“Engagement is central to this incredible organization’s mission,” said Lisa Bowen, vice president, managing director at KidGlov and healthcare marketing expert. “We’ve been honored to partner with Children’s Center for the Child & Community for many years and are thrilled to share their great works with new audiences through the podcast.”

Children’s Center for Child & Community is Children’s Hospital and Medical Center’s advocacy branch. The organization engages with the community through partnerships, strategic planning and collaborative implementation of community health priorities. Childhood obesity prevention, early childhood education, school health and health clinics are a few of the organization’s community initiatives.

“The health of a child is impacted by more than just the medical care they receive. It’s impacted by the community they live in, learn and play in. Our goal at Children’s Center is to create communities that are safe and healthy and empower families to thrive. It’s our goal to keep them out of the hospital,” said Helweg.

The podcast episode explored the center’s many programs, including the 123 Connect with Me, a campaign to educate parents and caregivers about the important role quality interactions and play have in early childhood development, and the Fruitful Vaccination campaign to encourage the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine.
